If you’re making something to prove a point to someone specific, it’ll show. Make it for the work.

Making something as an argument carries the argument in it. You shape choices around a person who is not in the room, defend yourself in a medium that was never built for it, and an audience can feel the grievance without knowing the target. It also means the piece is finished the moment that one person reacts, or fails to. Revenge is a very short brief.
Notice who you are picturing when you decide something, and if it is one specific face, pause. Ask what the piece itself needs instead. Make the thing, and let it be good enough that the point lands on its own.
