Originality isn’t having an idea nobody’s had. It’s having it your way.

CREATIVITY
Waiting for an unprecedented idea is a guaranteed way never to start, since almost everything has been attempted by somebody. What has not happened is the version that comes through you, with your particular interests, references and limitations shaping every choice. Two people given the identical premise produce unrecognisably different work. The uniqueness lives in the handling rather than in the premise.
Take an idea you have dismissed as unoriginal and make it anyway. Do it the way that comes naturally to you instead of the way it is usually done. Then compare yours with the version that already exists and notice how little they overlap.
What ordinary idea could you do unmistakably your own way?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
