People often calculate purchase price and ignore ownership cost.

RESILIENCE
Buying is one moment; owning is years. Maintenance, insurance, storage, upgrades, the time to learn it, the cost when it breaks, all of that lands after the decision has been made on the basis of a single figure. Ownership cost is where the real spending happens and almost nobody estimates it in advance.
Before buying something substantial, guess the annual cost of keeping it. Ask someone who already owns one. The figure is usually higher than you expect and it changes decisions.
What do you own that keeps asking for time and money?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
