Every animator you admire once made a stick figure walk badly.

Nobody’s first attempt was good, including the people whose work you study now. The stick figure that moved like a broken umbrella is a required stage, not a sign you picked the wrong thing. What separates them from everyone else is not a better beginning, it is that they kept making the next one. Beginnings all look roughly the same.
Make the bad version today rather than reading about how it is done. Eight frames, a stick figure, no detail. Save it with the date, and in six months it will be the most encouraging file you own.
Are you still at the clumsy stage of something?
