Being original sometimes just means being the first person in your town to try it.

Originality is usually local before it is global. Doing something first in your school or neighbourhood gives you room nobody is competing for, and the fact that it exists elsewhere does not make it less new where you are. The audience in front of you has not seen it. That is the only audience you have at the start.

Think of something you have only ever seen online and bring it to where you actually live, a zine, a night of music, a club nobody has started. Ask one person to do it with you. Begin at the smallest scale that still counts as real.
