Sawdust on the floor means something got made today.

Mess is evidence. A clean bench can mean a careful worker or it can mean nothing happened, while shavings on the floor prove that something real left your hands that day. Plans and intentions leave no residue, which is why they are so easy to mistake for progress. The floor keeps a more honest record than your memory does.

Set the bar for a good day at one piece of evidence, however small, that something got made. A page, a recording, a cut board. Sweep up at the end, and let the fact that there was something to sweep be the point.
