If your project bores you halfway through, it’ll probably bore people too. Change something before you push on.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Boredom with your own work is usually a signal rather than a character flaw. You know the thing better than anybody, so when your interest goes flat it often means the middle has no turn in it, or the idea was thinner than it looked. Pushing on out of discipline alone tends to produce something competent and dead. Other people feel the same slump you did, only later.

When interest drops, stop and find the exact point where it went. Change something structural there before you continue, whether that is a cut, a complication or a raised stake.
