Some tasks feel productive because they delay the task that matters.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Tidying, replying, organising, preparing, all produce the sensation of working while reliably postponing the one thing that is difficult. This is not laziness; the smaller tasks are real and they are also perfectly shaped to absorb exactly the energy the hard thing needed.
Name the thing you have been circling. Then give it the first forty minutes of tomorrow, before the small tasks have a chance to look urgent. Order is what protects it, not willpower.
What do you tidy or answer instead of starting the hard thing?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
