Work expands when nobody asks what success actually requires.

Without a definition of what would be enough, work has no natural stopping point and expands to fill whatever is available. Another revision, another check, another refinement, all defensible individually and unbounded collectively. The absence of a target is what makes everything take forever.

Before starting something, write down what finished looks like in one sentence. Show it to whoever asked for the work. That sentence saves more time than any technique.
