Doing your best on a part-time job you don’t love is practice for the job you will.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Habits do not know which job they are in. How you handle a dull shift, an awkward customer or a task below your ability is how you will handle those things later with more at stake, because you are training a default rather than responding to a situation. Waiting for work that deserves your best means practising something else in the meantime. The job is temporary and the pattern is not.

Pick one standard to hold this week regardless of how you feel about the place. Punctuality, tone with customers, finishing the last task properly. Hold it for a month and notice it has stopped needing a decision.
