Efficiency should create space, not merely capacity for additional work.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
When getting faster only means fitting in more, the gain has been captured by the work rather than by you. That is a choice, usually made by default, and it means efficiency never improves your life, it only raises the throughput. Space has to be claimed deliberately or it will be filled.
When you free up time, spend some of it on nothing in particular. Protect it the way you would protect a meeting. Otherwise the improvement disappears into the next request.
What did you do with the time you last saved?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
