If your plan only works on a perfect day, it isn’t a plan yet.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A plan that assumes everything goes right is a wish with a timetable attached. Real days contain a late bus, a headache, a shift that runs over, and a schedule with no slack fails at the first of those and takes your confidence with it. Robustness comes from building in the things that reliably happen. A plan should survive an ordinary bad Tuesday.

Take your current plan and walk it through a realistically bad day, and find where it breaks first. Add slack there, or cut something. Keep a minimum version you can still hit when half the day disappears.
