Plateaus are normal. If one drags on, don’t just push harder. Change how you practice.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A plateau that lasts means the method has stopped producing, not that your effort is insufficient. More of the same is the instinctive response and usually the wrong one, because the ceiling is in the approach rather than in the hours. Changing the angle often restarts progress straight away: slower, harder, a different drill, somebody watching. Effort only helps once it is pointed somewhere new.

If you have been stuck for a few weeks, change one variable rather than adding time. Practise slower, record yourself, ask for one piece of outside feedback. Give the new approach two weeks before you judge it.
