Mistakes in practice are cheap. Mistakes on the job cost someone. That’s why practice exists.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Practice exists to move your errors somewhere harmless, which means making them there is the point rather than a failure. Work has a person on the other end of it, and that changes the price of getting something wrong. Being willing to be bad in rehearsal is what buys you being reliable when it counts. The two settings are not supposed to feel the same.
Push a little harder in practice this week and let yourself fail at the edges. Attempt the thing you usually avoid. Then keep the job itself inside what you can do reliably, and move your edge forward in the safe setting.
Are you making your mistakes where they are still cheap?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
