Nobody notices the second coat of paint. Everybody would notice if you skipped it.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Invisible work is still load-bearing. Nobody admires a second coat, but everybody sees the patchy wall you get without one, which means the work registers only by its absence. A great deal of quality behaves like that: the proofread, the warm-up, the extra rinse. Doing it earns no credit and skipping it costs plenty.
Finish one thing properly this week knowing nobody will mention it. Second coat, final check, last wipe-down. Judge it by whether anything is wrong rather than by whether anyone said well done.
Would anyone miss the extra step if you skipped it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
