The kid you tutor doesn’t need you to be brilliant. They need you to come back next Tuesday.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Turning up repeatedly beats being impressive once. A kid being tutored does not need brilliance; they need the same person at the same table next week, because learning happens across sessions and trust happens through return. Reliability is hard to fake and easy to underrate. Being there is most of the help.

If you have committed to somebody, go next time even when you know the session will be mediocre. Low energy and present beats cancelled. Tell them when you will be back, and then be back.
