Stage fright doesn’t go away with talent. It shrinks with preparation.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Nerves are not a sign of missing talent. Fright comes from uncertainty about what is going to happen, which is why extremely gifted performers still feel it, and no amount of ability switches off the body’s response to being watched. What shrinks it is knowing, in your hands, that you can do the thing even badly. Preparation gives you a floor to stand on.
Over-prepare the part you dread rather than running the whole piece again. Drill the entrance, the first line, the bit you always fumble. Then rehearse once in front of one person, so being watched is no longer the new variable.
What are you nervous about that more rehearsal would quiet?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
