Give credit in the meeting, not just in private. Fairness counts most when it costs you a little shine.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Praise given in private is comfortable because it costs you nothing in the room where it counts. Saying someone’s name out loud in front of the people who decide things moves a little standing from you to them, and that is the whole point. Fairness that costs nothing is just preference. The small sting you feel is the evidence it was real.
When something you were part of goes well this week, name the person who did the part nobody saw. Say it where other people can hear, and be specific about what they did. You will notice it does not actually shrink you.
Whose help have you praised privately but never out loud?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
