Learn one thing well this month instead of five things badly. Depth is a kind of discipline.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Collecting beginnings feels productive and leaves you with five things you can almost do. Depth is uncomfortable because the flattering early progress stops and you spend weeks in the stretch where you are merely competent. Staying there is the discipline. It is also the only place real skill gets built, since the interesting parts of anything sit past the beginner stage.

Choose one skill for the next four weeks and let the others wait. Give it three short sessions a week, written in your calendar like a shift. At the end of the month, ask what you can do now that you could not do in week one.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which five things are you currently learning a tenth of?
