Most of a beekeeper’s job is noticing small changes before they turn into big losses.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Looking after anything is mostly early detection. Big losses tend to begin as small, undramatic differences that were perfectly visible to anyone paying attention weeks before, which makes attention the actual work rather than the dramatic rescue. People imagine competence as crisis handling. It is more often quiet, regular looking.

Choose something you are responsible for and look at it closely once a week, on purpose, without fixing anything. Note what is different from last time, even if it seems trivial. Act the second time you notice the same drift, not the tenth.
