A dog that got a real walk is easier to train afterward. Sometimes the fix is meeting the need first.

RESILIENCE
Behavior is often a message about an unmet need rather than a problem to be corrected. An animal with unspent energy cannot concentrate, and no amount of technique beats the physical fact of it, so the first move is to meet the need and then teach. People work much the same way. Hunger, tiredness and restlessness all look a lot like bad attitude.
Before you tackle something you keep failing at, check the simple conditions: have you eaten, slept, moved, had any air. Fix the obvious one and try again before concluding anything about your discipline. Use the same check on people who are being difficult.
