Your job at the coffee shop can be holy if you treat the customers like they matter to God. They do.

Ordinary work is not a holding pattern you endure until something meaningful comes along. You spend your shift in front of a run of people who are tired, late, broke or being ignored by everybody else that day, and how you hand them a cup is a real decision with a real effect. Treating them as significant is not a trick you play to make a dull job tolerable. It is a sane response to the fact that they are.
On Saturday, learn two names and use them. Make eye contact once per customer. Notice how differently the shift runs.
Would your customers notice if you saw them properly tomorrow?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
