Standing alone on what you believe is uncomfortable. Uncomfortable isn’t the same as mistaken.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Discomfort is a poor instrument for measuring whether you are right. Standing by yourself on something feels so bad that the feeling gets read as a signal of error, and you quietly fold and call it humility. Unpopular and wrong are separate questions. You have to settle the second one on the evidence, because the first one will always point the same direction.

When you are the only one this week, ask plainly whether you have a reason or only a position. If the reason holds, stay there and expect it to keep being uncomfortable.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which belief do you hold quietly because holding it openly feels awkward?
