The one who never waves might be the hardest person on the street to read correctly. You have assumed rudeness because that is the cheapest explanation available, and it may be right, and it may also be illness, exhaustion, grief or years of nobody calling in. You are not going to find out from the pavement. A charitable reading costs you nothing and changes how you hold the whole situation.

Pray for them on your walk this week. Wave again anyway, and leave it entirely up to them what happens next.
