If you only pray in emergencies, God is your fire alarm, not your friend.

A relationship built only on crises never gets past the crisis. If the only time you reach out is when something is burning, the connection stays transactional, and whoever is on the other end becomes a service rather than someone you know. The same is true of people. Friendships run on unremarkable contact, not emergency calls.
Add one short, ordinary check-in to your week when nothing is wrong. Thirty seconds on the walk to practice is plenty. While you are at it, message the friend you only text when you need something, and say nothing in particular.
Who do you only contact when something has gone badly wrong?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
