Forgiveness isn’t saying it didn’t hurt. It’s saying the hurt doesn’t get to run your house.

Forgiving something does not require you to downgrade it first. The injury can stay exactly the size it was; what changes is how much of your daily life it gets to organise. Resentment is expensive because it makes decisions: who you avoid, what you cannot mention, which rooms you will not enter. Taking the keys back is the whole move.
Notice one thing you are currently arranging around an old hurt. A route you take, a person you avoid being grouped with, a subject you steer away from. Do that thing once this week, without announcing it.
Which old hurt is still making decisions inside your home?
