The nursery volunteer will never get a solo, but they let a hundred parents actually hear the sermon.

Some roles exist entirely so that other people can do something else. Nobody applauds the person in the back room with the toddlers, and without them a hundred adults would have spent the hour in the corridor. The contribution is real and structurally invisible. Work that enables other work rarely gets counted as work.

Ask whose attention you are making possible this week, at home or at a job. Taking the younger sibling out of the room counts. Do that job without mentioning what it cost you, and then do it again next week.
