Devotion mostly happens in places with bad lighting and nobody watching. A muttered sentence between rooms at three in the morning, from somebody tired and still working, is about as serious as it gets. Nothing about it is performance, because there is no audience and no time. The grandest versions of anything are usually not the truest ones.
Notice what you say to yourself during the dull, hard parts of your week. The late homework, the long shift, the drive home. Let those words be honest rather than impressive, because that is where most of your life happens.
