The greatest person in the room, by Jesus’ math, is the one refilling everybody’s water.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Every room has a status order and most people can feel it within a minute. The reversal puts whoever attends to other people at the top, which is less a nice sentiment than a different scoring system. It means the person refilling glasses is not beneath the conversation, they are running it. Measured that way, plenty of impressive rooms look upside down.
Try being the one who notices what the room needs, somewhere you would usually be served. Refill the glasses, clear the plates, get the chairs. Watch what it does to how you see everybody else there.
Who do you assume is most important in a crowded room?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
