Failures always feel bigger at 2 a.m. Talk to God then. Make big decisions in daylight.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Judgement is unreliable at two in the morning and the proportions are always wrong. Everything you got wrong presents itself at once, with no context and nobody awake to argue with it. The hours are fine for saying what you feel; they are terrible for concluding anything. Decisions made in the dark are almost always more drastic than daytime ones.

Use the bad hours for the honest sentence and nothing else. Write it down if that helps, then put the phone away and decide nothing. Read the note after breakfast and see if it still looks the same size.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which decision did you nearly make in the middle of the night?
