The Samaritan woman came to the well alone in the noon heat. Jesus was already sitting there, ready to talk.

Fetching water in the middle of the day, alone, is what you do when you are avoiding the morning crowd. The timing says everything about how her life was going. In the story the conversation happens there, at the hour she chose so nobody would find her. Being met where you go to be unseen is a strange and specific kindness.

Think about where you go to avoid people and who could reach you there. Let one person find you at an odd hour this week, even for ten minutes. You do not have to rejoin the morning crowd to be found.
