Church people will let you down sometimes. So will you. Grace runs both ways in the pews.

Expecting a group of people to be better than people is how you end up leaving. Somebody will be careless with you, repeat the thing you said in confidence, or fail to notice you were having a terrible month. You will also do a version of that to somebody else, probably without realizing. The grace has to run in both directions or the whole arrangement collapses on first contact.

When you get let down this week, give what you would want given to you. You can be honest about it and stay.
