Options are inherited, and the groundwork is almost always invisible. Somebody worked a job they did not choose, in conditions they did not love, so that the next generation could choose, and then that generation did the same thing again, and the result is a set of possibilities that feels to you like simply how things are. It is not neutral ground. It was laid.

Ask your grandparents what they did for money and what it was actually like. Record it on your phone if they let you, because the details go when they do.
