Boredom isn’t an emergency. You don’t have to fix it with a screen every time.

Boredom feels urgent, and that is the trick in it. The discomfort arrives, your hand moves before you decide anything, and the feeling goes away so reliably that you never learn what it was for. Left alone a few minutes it usually turns into something else: an idea, a plan, or just rest. Filling it instantly means you only ever meet the first unpleasant ten seconds.
Next time you reach for your phone out of nothing, put it down and wait five minutes. Stare out the window, pace, lie on the floor. Do that once a day for a week and notice what shows up in the gap.
Which empty moment do you treat as a problem to solve?
