Grief is love discovering it has nowhere familiar to go.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Love does not stop when the person does. It keeps arriving with the same force and the same direction, and finds the usual destination gone. That is much of what grief feels like from the inside, not the absence of feeling but a feeling with nowhere to land. The intensity is not a sign that something is wrong with you; it is the size of what you had.
When it comes, try letting it be love rather than a problem to solve. Find somewhere for it to go, a letter, a walk to a place you both liked, a kindness done in their name. It will not resolve anything, and it does not have to.
