The “text me when you get home” person is rarer than you think. Keep them.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Somebody asking to know you got back is agreeing to stay slightly awake for you. It means holding you in mind after you have left, noticing whether the message arrived, and feeling something if it did not. It can read as fussing. What it actually is is somebody treating your safety as their business.
Send the message, every time, even when it is late and you are tired, because the silence is the only part that hurts. Then be that person for somebody else, including the friend who always seems fine. Asking once is enough to let them know the offer is there.
Who wants to know that you got home safe?
