Loss teaches how much of daily life was built around unnoticed presence.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Much of a life is built out of another person’s presence without anyone drawing up the plans. Who handles which task, who is told the small news, which hour of the day belongs to a phone call, all of it arranged itself over years. When they go, the structure shows itself by falling in. The disorientation is not weakness; it is a whole architecture becoming visible at once.
Expect ordinary logistics to be harder than they should be for a while, and lower the bar accordingly. Where a role has gone empty, let it stay empty rather than rushing to fill it. Some of those spaces close on their own eventually.
Whose small daily part in your life would you miss most?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
