Pull a hoodie straight out of the dryer and put it on. Some comforts are small enough to miss if you rush.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Not every good thing announces itself. Some pleasures are small enough and short enough that hurrying past them costs you nothing you would notice, which is exactly why they vanish from a fast life. Warmth that lasts four minutes only exists if you happen to be standing there. The ability to enjoy something that cheap is worth protecting, because most days are built out of things that cheap.

When the dryer stops this week, go and get your own clothes out of it. Put something on while it is still warm. Then count how many other four-minute good things your ordinary day already contains.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which two-minute comfort do you keep rushing past?
