Your dog isn’t walking to get somewhere. The walk is the whole event. Try that once.

A dog on a walk is not travelling anywhere. There is no arrival to reach, so every smell and hedge is the actual content rather than a delay. Most of your own day is organised the other way round, as a set of journeys between the parts that count. That habit quietly turns a large share of your life into waiting.
Take one walk this week with no destination and nothing playing in your ears. Go the slow way. If you catch yourself speeding up to get it over with, that is worth noticing rather than fixing.
What do you only ever do in order to finish?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
