The sibling who keeps stealing your hoodie is also the one who’d give you their last dollar. Mostly.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Siblings run two separate ledgers that never get reconciled. The daily one is full of borrowed clothes and petty theft and genuine irritation. The other one, which almost never comes up, holds the fact that they would hand over whatever they had if you were in real trouble. Judging them by the first ledger is easy and misleading, since both are true at once and the second matters more.

The next time your sibling takes your stuff, notice that the annoyance is real and small. Then do something from the other ledger this week without comment. Cover for them, lend first, back them in front of somebody else.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would your most annoying sibling still do for you?
