Rain cancelled the plans. It didn’t cancel the afternoon. Find out what’s still in it.

Plans and afternoons are two different things. When the plan dies the hours are still there, unspent, and the instinct is to treat them as spoiled and hand them to a screen out of disappointment. That is the bigger loss of the two. An afternoon with nothing scheduled in it is not an empty afternoon unless you decide it is.
The next time weather or somebody else cancels on you, spend two minutes choosing what the gap is for instead of drifting. Cook something, read, call someone, go out in the rain anyway. Replace it deliberately rather than by default.
What was still left the last time your plans fell through?
