Gratitude you only feel is half done. Say it out loud before the moment leaves.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
A feeling that stays inside you only does half the work. The warmth is real and private, the person it concerns learns nothing, and the part that could have changed something between you never happens. Saying it is the other half, and it has a short shelf life, because once the moment has gone the sentence starts to sound odd. Unspoken thanks mostly evaporates.
When you notice the feeling this week, convert it on the spot. One sentence is enough and it does not need to be elegant. Say what they did and that you are glad they did it, then let the awkwardness pass.
What thanks are you carrying around without having said it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
