You do not dishonor someone by eventually living beyond the day they left.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

There is a quiet belief that moving forward is a form of leaving someone behind. It is not. Building a life after a loss does not overwrite what came before, and staying stuck does not keep anyone closer. The day they left is a fact about them; the years afterward are a fact about you, and you are permitted to have them.

If a step forward brings guilt, notice whether the guilt is protecting anything real. Usually it protects only the fear of forgetting, which is solved by remembering deliberately, not by refusing to live. Take the step and keep the ritual.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would you allow yourself if guilt were not part of it?
