Family resemblance can exist in habits no photograph captures.

Photographs catch the face, but the real resemblance shows up in behavior. How you argue, what makes you leave a room, the phrases you use under stress, the way you handle money or apology, all of it can be traced upward through the family without any physical likeness at all. These habits transmit without anyone teaching them deliberately. They are copied before they are noticed.

Ask someone who has known several generations of your family what you do that reminds them of a relative. The answer is usually specific and slightly uncomfortable. Knowing it is the only way to decide whether to keep it.
