Some versions of you deserve gratitude, not permanent employment.

Every earlier version of you was hired for conditions that existed at the time, and some did excellent work under real pressure. The one who kept the peace at any cost, the one who never asked for help, the one who stayed small to stay safe. Each earned genuine thanks. None of them earned a lifetime position in a situation they were never designed for.

Identify which old role is still running your responses when it no longer needs to. Thank it plainly, in your own head, for what it protected. Then choose one situation this week where you deliberately respond as the person you are now instead.
