It’s easy to be honest when you’re rested. Character is what’s left at 2 a.m. before the deadline.

LEADERSHIP
Decency is not a belief, it is a performance under conditions, and the conditions matter more than most people admit. Rested, fed and ahead of schedule, nearly everybody manages it. Exhausted and out of time, the decision gets made by whoever is left once the thinking has run out. So part of staying honest is managing how often you end up there.
Protect the conditions instead of trusting your willpower: sleep, an earlier start, a smaller plan. Once you are already in the bad hour, take the smallest honest option rather than a heroic one. Hand in less, ask for another day, or admit you are not ready.
What do you let slide when you are exhausted and behind?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
