Taking credit for someone’s work feels like a win until you have to do it again without them.

Credit you did not earn creates an expectation you cannot meet. Everyone now believes you can do the thing, and the next time it comes around the person who actually could is not standing next to you. The win was really a loan taken out against a skill you do not have yet.
If you are sitting on borrowed credit right now, hand it back while it is still small. Name the person in front of whoever was impressed. Then go learn the part you skipped, so the credit fits next time.
Could you do again, alone, what you were praised for?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
