Some information becomes dangerous only because it reached someone without context.

Most facts are neutral until they travel. A number, a diagnosis, a decision, a remark, all carry the surrounding circumstances that make them make sense, and those circumstances rarely travel with them. What reaches the third listener is a fragment, which is when it becomes damaging. The harm is usually in the missing context rather than the information itself.
Before repeating something about someone, ask whether you can carry the whole of it accurately. If not, do not pass it on. And with your own information, consider what a fragment of it would sound like before you hand it over.
