A coxswain never touches an oar. They steer and call the rhythm. Some leaders win without rowing.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Steering and keeping time are real work even though they move nothing by force. Some contributions do not look like effort from outside, which makes them easy to dismiss in other people and easy to apologize for in yourself. A group going fast in the wrong direction is not helped by one more person pulling hard.
If your part is thinking, organizing or holding everyone together, stop treating it as less than carrying the heavy end. Do it well and do it out loud. And if you are the one pulling, say thank you to whoever is steering.
What could you contribute without doing any of the lifting?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
