Leading is mostly doing the boring thing first so nobody else can say it’s beneath them.

Jobs only become beneath people once somebody above them has refused to do them. Taking the dull task first removes that argument completely, and the standard for the whole group shifts without anything being said. It is also the fastest way to learn how bad the dull task really is. Authority gets much easier when nobody can point at a job you avoid.
Choose the least appealing task in your group this week and do it in plain view, without commentary. Keep doing it occasionally rather than once for effect. Notice who starts joining in.
